Value for money underlying quality and an excellent feature set sum up the Samsung E250. It is a thin light slider phone - 99 x 50 x 14 mm and weighing 80g - for the mid-range phone market offering many high-quality integral goodies within a stylish deliberately tactile finish.
The screen is a good size - 2 inches (128 x 160 pixel resolution) and visible whether the handset is open or closed. The lilac handset has bevelled edges with a tactile coating that feels good to hold and operate. There is 10 MB internal memory with an expandable memory facility by adding a MicroSDT memory card.
The user interface itself is black - the bright colours show up beautifully against the black background - and includes a VGA camera with camcorder video capabilities (up to one hour of video with sound at 15 frames per second). The camera has a CMOS sensor for high-quality imaging and clear photo capture. There is a 4 x digital zoom for close up shots "at a distance". .
The E250s uMenu feature enables you to create a unique menu for all frequently-used features while the uTrack feature comes into play if the handset is lost or stolen: it automatically sends an SMS message to a pre-designated number to alert you that the SIM card has be changed or replaced.
A triband network phone for international roaming the E250 delivers internet access via the built in WAP browser. EDGE technology ensures high-speed downloads and data transfers. Integral Bluetooth¬ offers short-range wirefree connectivity between the E250 and compatible Bluetooth¬ devices (laptop printer PDA or headset).
There is an FM radio and an integrated music player supporting the most popular file formats including MP3 AAC and AAC+. It supports both polyphonic and MP3 ring tones to select and change at will. Battery life is rated at 250 hours of standby time and five hours of talk time.
