Created by European designer Jasper Morrison the Samsung E590 is a photo-oriented handset with a distinctly user friendly interface. The covering of its compact body (94 x 42 x 13.5 mm and weighing only 65g) is soft and rubbery - and while the keys may be small their widely spaced placement precludes any accidental button mashing. The dual-faced design comprises simple contours and clean lines. On one side is a keypad and lcd display for the phone; the opposite side is the camera. While not eye-catching for an ususual shape its advantages are carefully understated with an excellent display (1.8" 262K colour TFT display with 220x220 pixels resolution) and a 3.2 megapixel camera (maximum resolution of 2048x1536 pixels) with auto-focus half-shutter night mode and panorama shot features. The E590 is a triband phone for international roaming with GSM GRPS and EDGE support for high-speed internet downloads as well as WAP 2.0 and Bluetooth for short-range wireless connectivity. There is a built-in MS Office document viewer FM radio integrated video and audio player (MPEG4 H.263 ??3 ??? ???+) and a MicroSD memory card slot for additional storage capacity. All the expected extras are included such as dictaphone to do list alarm clock stopwatch calculator and timer. The phonebook holds up to 1000 names - each name entry may contain up to five numbers e-mail address and a text note assigned image photo and melody including MP3. The E590 may not be a high-end nor a fashion phone but it is is a delightfully minimalist handset slipping unnoticeably into a shirt or trouser pocket.
